Sr. Software Developer
Q: Why did you choose to work at Refactr?A: I wanted to be able to use agile processes to deliver rapid iterations to our customers to make sure they get what they want... and the beer.
Q: How have agile methods changed how you get work done?A: By being able to break down complicated projects into smaller chunks, it is easier to identify and work on what is most important. Also, it is easier to focus on the work at hand and not get overwhelmed by large projects.
Q: What is your earliest computer or internet memory?A: Writing programs in BASIC on our Apple II GS. I wrote a trivia game on Wisconsin state history, and copied code from a library book to make fractal images. I did not really understand what it was doing, but it looked pretty on the 12" monitor.
Q: What software or websites could you not live without?A: Dropbox and Google Docs. I like being able to access my files wherever I am and know that they are backed up.
Q: What is your favorite technology or gadget?A: My GPS running watch. Knowing my current pace pushes me to run faster, and when I upload the data to my computer I am fascinated by the maps and graphs it produces.
Q: What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt?A: Either a photographer or working on a computer-animated movie.
Q: If the whole world were listening, what would you say?A: Just relax, take a deep breath, it will be OK. Which is the same thing I tell my 3-year old daughter.
